Progressive Christmas Part 1 & 2

So we are having a progressive Christmas... One night we put up the tree and we read about evergreens and how they represent the eternalness of Christ. We also talked about the shape of a triangle and how that reminds us of the trinity. How it points up to heaven. How it's a tree cut off from it's place like Christ was cut off from heaven for a time. How it's been brought into a home to bring us a message, just like Christ was brought to earth to give us a message. And that was just about the tree it's self!

A few days later we put the lights on the tree and talked about the story of Martin Luther walking through the woods and seeing the stars through the trees wanted to recreate it on his own tree. It's nice to look at the light on the tree and think of the stars in the sky.

This has been so much fun, we haven't even gotten any further that that but, I can hear the kids talk about what we have learned and they enjoy the process too.
We have been a bit crafty as well, we made a candy train to countdown the days to Christmas. Reign has made a wreath out of origami paper, although it was blue and orange. (War Eagle!) Boy has been the "mailman" to the advent calendar. I found a great one but now I can't find where I got it so I can't share it with you (bummer). I will let you know if I can find it! I pray that when the season is over, we have made a great tradition and more than that... good memories!
